8 Cool Life Hacks for Your Kitchen [Updated for 2018]
Today you are going to learn 8 cool life hacks for your kitchen to make your life easier! Working in the kitchen isn’t an easy job. It takes up hours to finish up the chores. Just a little bit of help proves great ease. So, here are your cool kitchen hacks:
- Cool Life Hacks Using Baking Soda
Dealing with burnt pots and vessels just got easier! Grab your burnt pan or vessel, add an equal amount of water and vinegar into it and boil the mixture.
When the mixture has boiled, add 2 tablespoons of baking soda to it.
The resulting acid-base reaction creates a lot of foam and carbon dioxide (Co2) and finally releases the bonds that keep burnt residue stuck to the vessel.
You can then easily scrub off the vessel without any hassles.
- Cool Life Hacks Using a Coffee Mug
Now this is one of the simple life hacks you could use. Just grab your coffee mug and look for a porcelain rim under it.
Hold your knife in such a way that the metal part of the blade is at a 20° angle on the rim.
Run it up and down smoothly by switching sides of your knife. Make sure you place only the edge of the blade and not the whole metal. Your knife is sharpened in no time.
- Use your Kitchen Platform to Sharpen your Knife
No coffee mug? Don’t worry! There’s another way out. Well this technique is used by my mom. Make sure your kitchen platform is marble. Simply grab your knife and place the edge at dry a 20° angle on the platform. Now run it back and forth and keep switching sides. Your knife is now ready to use!
- Use a Rubber Band to Loosen Jar Lid
You can use a rubber band to loosen a tight jar lid. Simply place a rubber band around the lid and open up the jar. The rubber band helps to get a strong grip over the lid which our bare hands can’t, due to the friction created by it.
- Sparkle up Your Microwave with Vinegar
Place a mug or vessel filled with water and vinegar in the microwave oven and heat for a few minutes. The steam emitted by the mixture will loosen up the leftover food particles and accumulated dirt in the oven. Just make sure to wipe off the residue with a clean towel.
- Clean Grill Grates with Onion
Clean up your leftover food on a grill grate with an onion. Cut an onion into half and rub it over the grates of a hot grill. This will deglaze the grates and also add an extra flavor to your food!
- Cool Life Hacks for Nasty Fridge Odors
Place a bowl of vinegar in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to get rid of that nasty stink in your fridge. Make sure you don’t keep it for too long otherwise the smell will be emitted back again from the vinegar.
- Ripen Bananas in 30 Minutes
Pop those unripe bananas into the oven for 30 minutes at 300°. Your unripe bananas are now ready to enjoyed!
