Most of us would have achieved many things in life, if only we had known about tips on how to wake up early. Waking up early is actually a very good habit, not only because you can maintain good health but also because you can be more productive by starting your day early.
Why Should You Wake Up Early?
All of us have different reasons to search for methods that help to wake up early. Students would like to know how to wake up early to study, people who are looking to lose weight or stay fit, might want to know how to wake up early to exercise or go on a morning walk etc.
But for Muslims, there are some additional reasons like praying Tahajjud, Fajr on time and of course reciting Quran in the pre-dawn period. During Ramadan, praying Tahajjud and eating your Suhur and finishing it before Imsak are all activities that requires each of us to wake up quite early in the morning.
Whatever might be your reason, this article will provide you with excellent tips on how to wake up early and make it a habit for life.
Pre-pone Your Bedtime
“Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise’.
This adage is quite popular, but many of us fail to follow the huge wisdom concealed in it. Adjusting your bedtime in such a manner that you are in bed a bit earlier than usual can be the easiest way to waking up early.
Avoid Anything That Delays Sleep
You need to make sure that you are not spending your time in bed throughout the night, waiting for sleep. You need to recognize and accept the fact that waking up early is possible only if your body and mind have been refreshed by adequate sleep at night.
Many of us are habituated to drinking coffee, tea, watching TV, browsing the net or maybe smoking cigarettes just before retiring to bed. If you too are habituated to any of these stuffs, then watch out; as it may interfere with your sleep, and you may find yourself wasting the night tossing and turning in bed.
If you succeed in getting rid of such habits, then waking up early in the morning is not going to be a problem for you anymore.
Stop Using The Snooze Button
Stop trying to postpone waking up and leaving the cozy comfort of your warm bed, by repeatedly pressing the snooze button of your alarm clock. If you could not sleep throughout the entire night, then an additional five or 15 minutes are not going to refresh you in any case.
Kicking this habit of pressing the snooze button can often turn out to be quite agonizing. This is especially true if the weather outside is chilly or damp and all you want to do is cling to your warm blanket for dear life. But remember good habits like waking up early need a certain amount of discipline, so steer clear of that devilish snooze button- NOW!
Avoid eating high protein food for dinner, especially if you have the habit of eating your dinner and immediately jumping in to bed.
Proteins take a long time to get digested, and often create a sense of bloating, discomfort and flatulence. In addition to this, eating a dinner that is highly concentrated in proteins has been proven to cause nightmares and other sleep disturbances as well.
If your sleep is disturbed at night, your dreams of waking up early in the morning are going to be squashed right away. So keep your dinner meals light and easy to digest, and also avoid eating late. You should see to it that you have the last meal of your day at least 2 hours before bedtime.
Bribes usually work well and even when everything else seems to fail. You are the best judge here, because only you know what can motivate you to leave your warm bed in the morning.
Maybe it is the breath of fresh air outside or the excited chirping of the birds or some activity like sharing a cup of morning coffee with your spouse.
Whatever it is that motivates you, make sure that you thoroughly enjoy doing it and is definitely more dearer to you than the cozy bed that beckons you to come back.
Make sure that you follow these 5 tips and apply them too. But it is important to remember that you cannot achieve any benefit by merely waking up and doing nothing more than that. Finding useful, productive and positive activities to do after waking up early is also equally important.
